The platform
Bharat Connect (formerly Bharat Billpay / BBPS) is India's interoperable bill-payments network: the central platform sitting between customer-side apps, biller-side operating units, and 20,000+ billers across 30 categories. Working here means every product decision lands on a population, not a user base.
Launching a pension rail into 15M+ subscribers
As Category Manager, I took the National Pension System onto Bharat Connect as the platform's first investment-cum-savings category (launched October 2024). The coordination surface was the job: three Central Recordkeeping Agencies, a trustee bank, the Technology Service Provider, and the front-end apps - aligned into a 5-click contribution flow where a mobile-number-linked PRAN replaced memorising a 12-digit number. Live across a 15M+ subscriber base.
Giving 20,000 billers their first pair of eyes
Billers had no analytics on their own collections through the network. I designed and launched the first self-serve Biller Analytics Dashboard: ~50,000 monthly active users at ~30-minute sessions, and 150x growth in report downloads within 12 months. The full thinking is in the case study, and there is a working demo with synthetic data.
The locator that closed a fraud loop
I built bharat-connect.com from scratch and designed the Agent Locator: 8M+ certified physical agents integrated on Google Maps through APIs to offline operating units. Consumer searches scaled roughly 200x in four months, complaints about uncertified collectors fell from ~200 a month to near zero, and remote-area cash-deposit turnaround dropped from 4 days to 8 hours.
The rest of the chapter
Core team contributor on Banking Connect, India's first interoperable net-banking platform - an RBI-initiated rollout spanning 10+ partner banks. And in 2025, my team won the NBBL Hackathon with a working SLM compliance assistant plus an onboarding automation that cut agent-institution turnaround from 90 days to 15.
